postheadericon Delicious Autumn by George Eliot – Sunday Selections

This week’s Sunday Selections is a poem from George Eliot entitled “Delicious Autumn”. It is the perfect accompaniment for my photo of a pair of herons flying south for the winter.

Delicious autumn!
My very soul is wedded to it,
and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth
seeking the successive autumns.

postheadericon The Gardener’s Morning – Sunday Selections

The Gardener’s Morning by Howard Dolf is our latest addition to Sunday Selections. Enjoy this lovely poem and imagine yourself in the morning garden.

The Gardener’s Morning

 The robin‘s song at daybreak
Is a clarion call to me.
Get up and get out in the garden,
For the morning hours flee.

I cannot resist the summons,
What earnest gardener could?
For the golden hours of morning
Get into the gardener’s blood.

The magic spell is upon me,
I’m glad that I did not wait;
For life’s at its best in the morning,
As you pass through the garden gate.

Garden Sanctuary

You who walk,
Maybe with troubled thoughts,
Come, enter here and rest;
And may the sweet serenity of growing things,
And the heavenly peace
Be mirrored in thy soul.

postheadericon Claude Monet – Sunday Selections

This week’s Sunday Selections is a short one with a quote from Claude Monet.
The photograph is one I took that obviously didn’t turn out as planned. But with the bright burst of color, it made me think of Monet’s artwork.
Enjoy!

postheadericon She’s Baaaaack

Abby Sue has returned!
If you’re new to our blog, you can read all about our favorite little tootsie-roll pooper here.  She is my little doggy niece who is once again our houseguest.  My sister and her family have moved home and are in the house-hunting process.  They are staying with us while conducting the search for the perfect place.  So once again, Abby is ruling the roost around here.  The biggest difference this time is that my beloved Porkchop is not the one who has his nose out of joint, this time it is Tory.

Not a happy camper….

He hasn’t ventured out of the garage since Friday.  He’s convinced the little rat dog (aka purse puppy, tootsie-roll pooper, the Princess, etc.) and her people are out to get him!  We’re hoping for his sake that Sis finds a house before her hubby arrives next weekend with the U-Haul and their two cats!
